Viola instruments: Yamaha electric SVC Silent Violas
Now you can capture the full splendor of an electric viola’s rich tone with the Yamaha SVV200 Silent Viola™ model. Like the other models in Yamaha’s electric instruments line, their electric viola marries the best features of an acoustic and electric instrument into one piece.
Modern appearing body style offers the traditional feel
Designed with Yamaha’s unique “outlined” body style, the SVV200 viola looks like an artist’s sketch of a viola. Yet with a traditional scroll, wooden neck and body, and chin rest, violists will be delighted to discover the familiar ease with which they will be able to play these models.
While these instruments feel like a traditional 16” viola, their construction means they can deliver a full, rich tone, without the hassles of feedback in any performance or recording situation.
The possibilities of a sophisticated electronic system
Starting with the dual piezo pickups, the SVV200 delivers an extremely broad sonic range, capturing every nuance intended by the player. Equalization is controlled by a special circuit which focuses on the instrument’s upper harmonics, making it possible to adapt to different venues and amplification systems.
In addition, a bypass switch allows the player to send the signal directly from the pickups to the external sound system, thereby exploiting the capabilities of high-end P.A. systems, or recording consoles.
Controls include volume and EQ. The instruments also include two different outputs: headphone out for silent practice mode and standard line out for recording and performance.
Constructed from quality materials
The neck is maple with an ebony fingerboard; the bridge is maple. The tailpiece, chin rest, and endpin are ebony. The outlined body frame is spruce, with a sleek matte black finish. The center body is available in a natural brown wood finish, or a stunning pearl white finish. Either way, this instrument is bound to impress, no matter where it’s played.
