The Yamaha SVV-200 Silent Viola combines familiar viola playability with electronics designed for quiet practice, studio work, and amplified performance. Its standard 16″ body and full-size frame provide a natural transition from a traditional acoustic viola, while the solid-body design substantially reduces acoustic output. The wood frame accommodates most standard chinrests and shoulder rests, helping violists maintain a familiar setup and playing position.

A dual piezo pickup system captures subtle changes in bowing and dynamics, supporting an expressive response from soft passages to powerful playing. Yamaha's onboard EQ circuit controls upper harmonics to help tailor the instrument's amplified tone to individual playing styles, room acoustics, and sound systems. The EQ can also be bypassed for use with external equalization equipment. Noise-reducing circuitry and dedicated line and headphone outputs make the SVV-200 equally practical for stage, studio, and private practice, while traditional maple, spruce, and ebony components preserve the feel of a conventional viola.
