The NS Design NXT5a 5-String Electric Violin in Sunburst combines the expressive capabilities of a traditional violin with an extended lower register and versatile amplification options. Designed by Ned Steinberger and crafted in the Czech Republic, this lightweight electric violin adds a low C string to the standard four-string range, providing access to viola-register notes while preserving familiar violin technique. Its ergonomic design, removable body reference bout, and adjustable shoulder rest provide comfortable support for rehearsals, recording, and live performance.

The NXT5a features NS Design's patented Polar Pickup System, which captures the distinct vibration characteristics of bowed and pizzicato playing for a balanced, expressive amplified sound. Dual-mode electronics allow players to switch between passive operation and capacitor-powered active output. A 60-second charge provides up to 16 hours of active operation, allowing direct connection to high- or low-impedance equipment without a separate direct box. The height-adjustable rock maple bridge accommodates individual action preferences, while the patented self-clamping tuning system provides precise adjustments and convenient string changes. Complete with a contoured ebony chinrest, customizable shoulder rest, and protective hardshell case, the NXT5a offers extended-range versatility in a compact, performance-ready instrument.
