At the Zoo is a cycle of 15 miniatures for violin with piano accompaniment for young violinists. Each piece imitates and depicts a particular denizen of the zoo. Pupils learn to master such forms of articulation as staccato, martele, and detache, and to develop their musical imagination literally through child's play.
