Sonata for Cello and Piano by Henriette Bosmans
Urtext edition by Andreas Pernpeintner. Markings by Raphaela Gromes. Published by Henle
Curtain up for Henriëtte Bosmans! The Sonata for cello and piano written in 1919 by the Dutch composer and pianist is a real discovery: exuberant and singing music in a late Romantic style. Both instruments come into their own; cellist Marix Loevensohn was probably the inspiration for the solo part. In this Urtext edition of the sonata, numerous errors in the first edition, which was published in 1919, have been corrected for the first time. The edition by G. Henle Publishers was made in collaboration with cellist Raphaela Gromes and pianist Julian Riem, who also recorded this sonata and reveal their fingerings here. A great deal of interesting information about the composer and her work is also presented in the preface by Bosmans expert Helen H. Metzelaar.
