The Dampit Humidifier for Viola is a reusable in-instrument humidifier designed to help protect a viola from the effects of excessively dry air. Placed inside the instrument, the Dampit adds and maintains moisture when conditions become dry, helping reduce the risk of cracks and other dryness-related damage to the wood. It can remain inside the viola while playing without tonal loss.
Using the Dampit is straightforward: immerse it in water for about 20 seconds, pinch the end to remove excess water, gently wipe the outer tube dry, and place it inside the instrument. When the Dampit is nearly dry, simply repeat the process. The included humidity indicator helps monitor room conditions, and the manufacturer recommends an optimum relative humidity range of 45–55%. Long-lasting and easy to reuse with proper care, the Viola Dampit provides a practical approach to humidity control during dry weather and central-heating periods.
