The Dampit can remain inside the bass while playing without tonal loss.

Simple maintenance makes the Dampit practical for regular use during dry weather and central-heating seasons. Immerse it in water for approximately 20 seconds, remove excess water, wipe the outer tube dry, and place it inside the instrument. When the Dampit is nearly dry, repeat the process. A supplied humidity indicator helps monitor conditions, with the manufacturer recommending an optimum relative humidity range of 45–55%.
