D'Addario Humidifier for Violin & Viola

Simple case humidification for protecting wooden string instruments in dry conditions

The D'Addario PW-SIH-01 Small Instrument Humidifier helps maintain appropriate moisture levels around violins and violas during dry conditions. Designed for use inside the instrument case, it releases moisture slowly and evenly to help protect vulnerable wood from problems associated with excessive dryness, including cracking, warping, and shrinkage. Its compact design makes it particularly suitable for smaller bowed string instruments.

Using and maintaining the humidifier is straightforward. A cellulose sponge holds the moisture and can simply be remoistened when it becomes dry, with the required frequency depending on local atmospheric conditions. This reusable design makes regular instrument humidification easy to incorporate into everyday care, especially during dry winter weather or in climate-controlled environments. In addition to violin and viola, D'Addario recommends the Small Instrument Humidifier for other smaller acoustic, bowed, and woodwind instruments.
