Fishman V-400 Concert Series Viola Pickup

Natural Acoustic Viola Amplification with a Premium Despiau Bridge

The Fishman V-400 Concert Series Viola Pickup delivers clear, natural amplification while preserving the distinctive tonal character of an acoustic viola. Designed for discerning musicians, this professional pickup system features a high-quality Despiau replacement bridge with a precision piezo-ceramic transducer integrated directly into its construction. The bridge-mounted design captures the instrument's vibrations with exceptional clarity, providing balanced string-to-string response and accurate reproduction of the viola's acoustic sound. Whether playing expressive bowed passages or articulate pizzicato, the V-400 offers consistent performance for concerts, rehearsals, and studio recording.

The V-400 includes a 1/4-inch Carpenter-style output jack for connecting the viola to an amplifier, preamplifier, or sound system. Its passive design requires no batteries, and an impedance-matching preamplifier is recommended, though not required, to achieve the pickup's full frequency response. The system is also optimized for use with Fishman Aura Imaging products, offering additional tonal depth and realism. Because the pickup is built into a replacement bridge, professional fitting and installation are required to ensure proper setup and performance. For violists seeking dependable amplification without compromising their instrument's natural voice, the Fishman V-400 provides a refined, performance-ready solution.
