Order a Rental

How do you want to receive the rental?
  • For prepaid curbside pickup in our Newton Store Tuesday-Saturday from 10am-4pm.
  • We require 1-2 business days to prepare rentals for pickup.
  • Please wait for an email from our staff informing you when your order is ready. Most orders are available for same day or next business day pickup.
  • If you require same-day pickup, please call 1-800-359-9351 and ask that an instrument be held for 24 hours in your name.
  • For shipment of an instrument to your home or business address. Violins, and Violas typically ship out within 3 business days; cellos within 5 business days.
  • Rentals are not available outside the United States.
  • For limited delivery to selected schools and locations during scheduled service trips.
  • For limited delivery of supplies and accessories only (no rental instrument) to selected schools and locations during scheduled service trips.

We're sorry! In order to process your request, we need to know what size of instrument you need. A proper fitting is a crucial first step in learning to play a stringed instrument.

Small children play smaller-scaled instruments; children over the age of 12 usually play full-sized (4/4) instruments.

To schedule a fitting by our staff, please come in to visit us, or call your teacher for a sizing recommendation.

Please note Bass rentals come with a French bow. This is common for most players. German bows are available by request. If you require a German bow, please include this request at Checkout, or contact the Bass Shop.

Guitar

Our Standard instrument outfits come with a durable, horsehair-strung fiberglass bow. This is a good choice for beginners: our fiberglass bows play well, and require very little maintenance.

You may elect to upgrade your bow to a carbon fiber bow for an additional charge. These bows are a little lighter in weight, and have more advanced playing characteristics than our default fiberglass bows. (These are the same bows used with our Advanced and Master categories of rentals.)

(Please note: at this time, we do not offer bow upgrades for 1/10 and 1/16-sized rentals.)

Upgrade your bow to a carbon fiber bow?

($6/mo. for violins and violas; $8/mo. for cellos and basses.)


Sizes with "G" refer to German, or European, sizing. Sizes with "S" refer to Suzuki, or Japanese, sizing. German sizes are a little larger overall than their Suzuki counterparts (in back length and bout width), and are generally accepted as the modern standard. If there is a choice, we recommend the German size unless your teacher has specifically requested the Suzuki size.
