Yamaha electric upright bass guitar: SLB 200LTD
Long a staple of both the classical and jazz musical genres, as well as a host of other styles, the standup, or upright bass nonetheless comes with its own set of challenges. Its heft and bulk make it difficult to pack and move, and its substantial size can even provide a challenge when fitting into tight performance situations.
Portability never before experienced by the standup bassist
Ideal for the traveling musician, this instrument’s body style includes a full 41 inch string length and a thin, hollow body design that provides excellent resonance. The two shoulder pieces, backrest, and end pin provide the traditional feel with which the player will be eminently comfortable. Yet it quickly and easily compacts into a very maneuverable shape and size for carrying.
The trimmed down look and feel of this bass do not mean that sound is in any way sacrificed -- far from it. With its spruce and Mahogany body, ebony fingerboard and tailpiece, maple bridge and Curly Maple neck, these basses offer a full range of tone for every technique, from bowing to pizzicato fingerpicking.
In addition, the antique brown finish of the wood brings out the beauty of the top-quality materials used throughout.
Versatile, high-end electronics
The piezo pickup faithfully captures every nuance of both the instrument’s tone and the player’s technique. An onboard preamp allows control over the EQ, and the selector switch allows the bassist to bypass the circuit entirely and send the pure, unadulterated signal to the amplifier, PA system, or recording console.
And you won’t need to worry about chewing through batteries: an alkaline battery will keep the unit running for 2000 hours of continuous use.
Superb tuning and response
The newly redesigned tuners feature a thicker blade that feels extremely solid in your hand, and its combination with a finely-crafted bridge provides an incredibly quick response with a clear, balanced tone.
From the classically shaped scroll, to the finer details (such as gold-plated tuning gears) to the extra thick, nonstick end pin cap, this electric bass is a top-of-the-line instrument.
