"The Devil Went Down to Georgia" remains the biggest hit by the Charlie Daniels Band, recorded on their 1979 album "Million Mile Reflections". Adapted from a tune by Vassar Clements, the song tells the story of Johnny, who beats the Devil in a fiddling contest, and features several old-time fiddling standards, with a prominent and memorable violin part.
