Concerto No. 3 in G Major, K.16 for viola and piano by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart
Edited, arranged, and with cadenzas by Lillian Fuchs. Published by International
Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart (1756-1791) was one of the most prominent composers of the Classical period and is often considered one of the greatest composers of Western art music. A noted child prodigy, he excelled in all genres. His music is revered for its beauty, clarity, balance, and transparency, underpinned by sophisticated craftsmanship.
Mozart wrote each of his violin concertos in his teens-though they are not particularly deep or complex as with his later works, they are charming and gratifying for the player and popular with audiences. They have become integral to every violinist's development as a student and professional. Though No. 3 in G Major, K.216 is not performed as often as Nos. 4 and 5, it remains beloved for its charm and lyricism. This arrangement for viola and piano is by Lillian Fuchs and includes her cadenzas as well. Advanced level, Grade 5.
