Well-known for his bravura, virtuosic piano works, Franz Liszt (1811-1886) also wrote pieces of gentle lyricism, including the short ''Romance Oubliee'' for viola and piano. Notably, it is one of the few pieces of the Romantic era that was written expressly for the viola (as opposed to an arrangement). Beautiful melodies and delicate arpeggios make this an ideal recital piece for intermediate violists. Edited by Milton Katims.
