Urtext. Edited by Kenneth Martinson.

Eugenio Cavallini (1806-1881) succeeded Alessandro Rolla as conductor of the La Scala Opera, where he directed the premieres of operas by Verdi and Donizetti. He was also among Rolla's most favored students, and eventually took over his teaching position at the Milan Conservatory. The 70 Etudes consist of three parts: 17 Easy Exercises and 29 Exercises on 4 Strings are elementary studies, and 24 Studies in Minor Tones are more advanced. This edition serves to be a progressive volume from beginning to end and can be used throughout a violist's life learning adventure, professionals and students alike.
