This collection is meant to give young students a first taste of the cello, and of some of the elements of jazz and improvised music. All 25 pieces are written for the 1st cello in first position, with increasingly more complex harmonies, bow strokes, and fingeting. Many of the pieces include a series of chord changes to give the student the possibility to try some first improvisations, as the 2nd cello plays as written.
