Sonata in D minor, Op.5/8 for two cellos by Arcangelo Corelli
Arranged and edited by Daniel Morganstern and Elaine Fine. Published by International
Arcangelo Corelli (1653-1713) was an influential Italian composer of the Baroque Era. Though he wrote few works, he helped shape European music-making for years to come. He helped establish the violin as a preeminent solo instrument and emphasized refinement of harmony, form, and melody as important qualities of the Baroque period.
His Op.5 sonatas are among the most celebrated of his works. Though often played with harpsichord, they were originally intended to be performed by two string instruments. This arrangement of his Sonata in D minor, Op.5, No.8 by Daniel Morganstern and Elaine Fine brings the spirit of Corelli's original vision to the modern cello duet repertory. Intermediate level, Grade 3.
