Sonata in C Major, G.74 for two cellos by Luigi Boccherini
Edited by Paul Bazelaire. Published by International
Luigi Boccherini (1743-1805) was an Italian cellist and composer. He spent much of his career in employ of Spanish patrons; as such, his music retains the galante style popular in courtly settings and sometimes contains suggestions of his Spanish locale. He is known for his many chamber works, which brought the cello to greater prominence within the ensemble.
Among Boccherini's many chamber works are his cello sonatas with continuo, often performed as cello duos. One of these is this delightful Sonata in C Major, G.74. Advanced level, Grade 5.
