The D-string in the TI100 set (TI03) is aluminum wound making it ideal for dark sounding violins demanding more brilliance. Musicians also have the option of using a silver D-string (TI03A) if they seek a warmer sound and less bow noise. In addition, the diameter of the silver D-string is significantly thinner than the aluminum wound D.
