Mira Gruszow and Gideon Baumblatt met while studying at the International School of Violin Making in Cremona, Italy. After receiving her diploma there, Mira moved to Montréal, Canada to work with Isabelle Wilbaux, before establishing her own workshop in Québec in 2010. Gideon finished his degree at the Mittenwald School of Violin Making, then worked in restoration at Florian Leonhard Fine Violins in London and for Peter Körner in Mainz, before reuniting with Mira in Montréal in 2012. The couple now works from their workshop in Berlin, Germany. They have received numerous recognitions for their instruments, including the distinction of a Double Gold Medal for Tone and Workmanship for a violin entered into the 2018 Violin Society of America competition, in addition to a Silver Medal for Tone for their Quartet of instruments.
