Italian luthier Filippo Fasser (b. 1967) was born in Salò, near Brescia in Italy. He studied at the International Violin Making School of Cremona, graduating in 1998. From his workshop in the heart of Brescia, Fasser currently builds violins, violas, and cellos on commission for international concert artists.
In 2001, Fasser co-founded Officina Musicale, an organization that promotes the work of Brescian artists through conferences, festivals, and exhibitions. He has curated several instrument exhibitions, including those featuring the instruments of Brescian violin makers Paolo Maggini and Stefano Scarampella.
Awards for Fasser's instruments include a silver medal from the Violin Society of America in 2008. Numerous celebrated string players own instruments made by Fasser, including violinist Elisa Citterio, violist Yuri Bashmet, and cellists Mario Brunello, Enrico Dindo, and Sol Gabetta.
