Austrian luthier Edgar E. Russ received his initial professional training from the Scuola Internazionale di Liuteria, Antonio Stradivari in Cremona. He established his first workshop there in 1990, later sharing a workshop in the same town with his friend and fellow violin maker Giorgio Grisales. In 2000, he opened his independent business in the heart of Cremona, where he currently builds violins, violas, cellos, and double basses. His instruments are owned by musicians across the globe, including members of the Vienna Philharmonic. Russ has received numerous awards for his instruments entered into international competitions and is a member of the Cremona "Antonio Stradivari" Consortium of Violin Makers. Since 2017, Edgar Russ has served on the board of directors of the Consortium, where he shares his know-how with the rest of Cremona´s makers.
