Edgar Russ Workshop cello, Cremona 2017. Based on a model by Antonio Stradivari.
Austrian luthier Edgar E. Russ (b. 1966) graduated from the Cremona International School of Violin Making in 1989. He established his first workshop in 1990, later teaming with violin maker Giorgio Grisales. In 2000, he opened his independent business in the heart of Cremona, where he currently builds violins, violas, cellos, and double basses. His instruments are owned by musicians across the globe, including members of the Vienna Philharmonic. Russ has received numerous awards for his instruments entered into international competitions, and is a member of the Cremona "Antonio Stradivari" Consortium of Violin Makers. This cello is from Russ's line of "workshop instruments," offering musicians a more affordable option.
