New England composer Gwyneth Walker composes music in many genres and for performers of many ages and skill levels. She is often inspired by American poetry and folk music. "The Turtle Dove" (2023) is a lament based on the English folk ballad of the same name, composed as a prelude to Ralph Vaughan Williams's own famous setting.
