Elena Ruehr says of her music "the idea is that the surface be simple, the structure complex." She has written many pieces of orchestal and chamber music, often drawing inspiration from literature and stories. Her music has been performed and recorded by Boston-area ensembles such as Boston Modern Orchestra Project and the Borromeo String Quartet. She currently teaches at MIT.
