Two Duets, K.423 and 424 for violin and viola (parts and score) by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart
Urtext edition by Anja Bensieck. Published by Henle
Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart (1756-1791) was one of the most prominent composers of the Classical period and is often considered one of the greatest composers of Western art music. A noted child prodigy, he excelled in all genres. His music is revered for its beauty, clarity, balance, and transparency, underpinned by sophisticated craftsmanship.
Mozart's two string duos K.423 and 424 for violin and viola rank as some of his most popular chamber works. He wrote them to complete a set by Michael Haydn. K.424 in B-flat Major most resembles Haydn's duets, as the viola fills a primarily accompanimental role. K.423 in G Major, however, is more complex and conversational, the apogee of the classical duet. This Henle urtext edition includes score and separate performing parts for each duo. Advanced level, Grade 5.
