Sonata for violin and cello by Luigi Boccherini
Transcribed and edited by Paul Bazelaire. Published by Leduc
Luigi Boccherini (1743-1805) was an Italian cellist and composer. He spent much of his career in employ of Spanish patrons; as such, his music retains the galante style popular in courtly settings and sometimes contains suggestions of his Spanish locale. He is known for his many chamber works, which brought the cello to greater prominence within the ensemble.
Among Boccherini's many chamber works are his cello sonatas with continuo, often performed as cello duos. This present sonata has been transcribed for violin and cello and edited by Paul Bazelaire. Includes two performing scores. Intermediate-advanced level, Grade 4.
