Sonata no. 2 in C Major, Op.43 for cello and piano by Luigi Boccherini
Edited and arranged by Alfredo Piatti. Published by International
Luigi Boccherini (1743-1805) was an Italian cellist and composer. He spent much of his career in employ of Spanish patrons; as such, his music retains the galante style popular in courtly settings and sometimes contains suggestions of his Spanish locale. He is known for his many chamber works, which brought the cello to greater prominence within the ensemble.
Among Boccherini's many chamber works are his cello sonatas with continuo, often performed as cello duos. One of these is his genial Sonata No. 2 in C Major, Op.43, arranged here for cello and piano by Alfredo Piatti. Advanced level, Grade 5.
