Catalog ID: C-2824

Giuseppe Reale Puglisi (1852–1914) was born in the Sicilian town of Catania where he founded the firm of G. Puglisi Reale & Figlio in 1880. He trained his two sons, Concetto and Michaelangelo, in the craft of instrument making, and the company grew to become one of the largest Italian manufacturers of bowed and plucked stringed instruments. In 1909, Michaelangelo assumed management of the workshop with the assistance of his own son, Salvatore. The long-lived Puglisi family of luthiers also continues today at Atelier Puglisi, a workshop in Australia, founded by Benedict Puglisi in 1995.
