The concert gray CelloPhant fits all sizes of Cello and French-Style Bass bows to open the palm and relax the hand. The trunk encircles the thumb, leading it to rest in a relaxed manner in the intersection between frog and stick. Different parts of the elephant, i.e toenails and leg, provide tactile reference points, to help the player retain the correct form in the teacher's absence. In addition, the CelloPhant adds some additional weight to the bow, enabling the player to produce a far richer tone than is typical for the beginner. The CelloPhant does not create an unnatural or forced bow hold, it guides the hand to adopt a position that is relaxed and natural, laying the foundation for a functional bow technique. The bow hold is learnt quickly through muscle memory, drastically reducing the amount of time needed to be spent studying technique, allowing the pupil to progress at a greater speed.
