John Clutterbuck (b.1949) is one of the most prolific 20th-century bow makers from England. He began his career as an apprentice at W.E. Hill & Sons in the early 1960s, where he worked until 1971.
He then moved to Bicester, where his work was influenced by John W. Stagg, a master bow maker and his colleague at his former employer. He also briefly worked with Stephen Bristow, producing bows branded J. S. Rameau. He remained in Bicester producing a large number of high-quality bows under his own brand.
His personal style remains largely inspired by his training at the Hill workshop. Some of the proud owners of John Clutterbuck bows include Nigel Kennedy, Lord Yehudi Menuhin, and Itzak Perlman.Round. Ebony and silver fittings. Weight: 3.0 lbs
