Dear Marblehead Parent,
Johnson String Instrument is located in Newton, Massachusetts, just west of Boston. We rent and sell violins, violas, cellos & basses. We will attend the Marblehead Public School instrument delivery night in September to provide students with stringed rental instruments. At our deliveries we arrange new rentals and exchanges, and accept returns.
PARENTS INTERESTED IN RENTING FROM JOHNSON’S
We will deliver rental stringed instruments to the Village School in Marblehead on Wednesday, September 19th, 5:00 – 7:00 PM.
We recommend that you Pre-Register Online. You can Pre-Register Online after September 1, or call us at 800-359-9351 anytime after August 24th. Pre-registration ensures that an instrument of appropriate size will be reserved for your child until 7:00 and allows you reserve accessories in advance. If you are unable to Pre-Register Online, you may read over and fill out a contract at the delivery while your child is sized for their instrument.

-School rate for small basses: a nine-month rental requires only a six -month rental payment.
Please note: We do require a credit card number as a security deposit on the rental contract. However, you are welcome to pay the rental fee by cash, check or credit card. Rates include insurance. Renewals can be done through the mail. Yearly rates are less expensive and if you return early, you will be charged only for the time used. Rental equity program: A portion of rental fees paid may be used toward the purchase of an instrument.
Violin & viola students: Your teacher requires that all violin & viola students 5th grade and up purchase a Kun shoulder rest which be available for $23.10 or $24.65, depending on size. We will also bring foam shoulder rests ($3.41) for students playing smaller violins and violas.
Cello and bass students: Your teacher has requested that you purchase a rock stop, which we will have on hand. The costs are $ $5.20 for cello, $6.25 for bass.
All students: Your teacher requires that you purchase a method book. Grade 3 & 4: ABCs for Strings book 1 and Suzuki book 1; Grade 5: ABCs for Strings book 2 and Suzuki book 2; Grade 6: ABCs for Strings book 3 and Suzuki book 3. Grade 7: ABC’s book 4 for violin, Suzuki book 4 for viola and cello. Grade 8: Fun with Solos for violin ($4.67), viola and cello books TBA. All books will be available for purchase at the delivery. ABC books are $9.40, and Suzuki books are $6.56. It is recommended that you purchase a music stand (which we will have on hand) for $20.95. Some other items will be available for purchase, but we recommend that you contact us in advance if you need to purchase specific items.
