Matthew Fritz

Matthew Fritz - Director of Sales and Acquisitions

Violinist and conductor Matthew Fritz joined the Johnson String Instrument Sales Department in 2009 and was appointed director of Sales and Acquisitions of Carriage House Violins in 2013. He holds a master s degree in orchestral conducting from the Eastman School of Music and a bachelor s degree from Arizona State University in violin performance. Passionate about sharing music with others and experienced in a wide range of musical styles, he has guest conducted with several orchestras throughout the country, including the Oklahoma City Philharmonic and Portland Symphony. He travels the world to acquire instruments from auction houses, private collections, and contemporary makers  workshops. Believing that today s successful musician must be versatile, he brings his own musical versatility to the exciting and challenging work of helping customers find their ideal instrument and bow.

Armenuhi Hovakimian

Armenuhi Hovakimian - Sales Consultant

A native of Armenia, Armenuhi Hovakimian is an accomplished and active solo, chamber, and orchestral violinist. She graduated with honors from the Eastman School of Music Preparatory Division, where she won first prize in the honors solo competition, and received her bachelor s degree in music performance from Indiana University of Pennsylvania and a master s in violin performance from Western Michigan University. Armenuhi is the founder of the Arlina Ensemble with whom she regularly performs. Before becoming a sales consultant with Carriage House Violins, she spent seven years at Reuning & Sons Violins in Boston. Armenuhi s passion for both teaching and performing combine to make her a caring and passionate advocate for her clients. Armenuhi is fluent in English, Armenian, and Russian.

Allan Espinosa

Allan Espinosa - Sales Consultant

Allan Espinosa is an avid freelance violinist in the Boston area performing with various New England ensembles, including the Orchestra of Indian Hill, Lexington Symphony, and Reagle Theater Players of Waltham. He earned bachelor s and master s degrees in violin performance at The Boston Conservatory, where he studied with Lynn Chang and graduated with honors. Also an active teacher, Allan is on the faculty for the Lexington Community Education program in Lexington, Massachusetts. In his role as an instrument sales consultant, he conveys his enthusiasm for playing and displays a talent for matching instruments to players.

Robert Mayes

Robert Mayes - Sales Consultant

Described as a superb soloist  by The Boston Globe, our recently appointed cello specialist Robert Mayes has performed throughout the United States and abroad in some of the world s top concert halls and has collaborated with some of the most esteemed composers and performers. His teachers have included Natasha Brofsky and David Soyer, and he has worked in masterclasses with Yo-Yo Ma, Paul Katz, Bernard Greenhouse, among numerous others. Robert is a graduate of the Walnut Hill School for the Arts, the New England Conservatory of Music, and the Juilliard School, and is currently pursuing a doctorate of musical arts at Boston University. He has a passion for discovering and demonstrating what a cello is capable of, and looks forward to sharing his expertise with his clients.
