Paul Kaul violin, Paris, 1936 French violin maker Paul Kaul was born in Mirecourt in 1875. He worked for Silvestre and Maucotel in Paris from 1900-1905 and also made instruments for violin shops in other French towns before settling in Paris in 1928. This violin is a Guarneri model with a back length of 363mm, slightly longer than average, and typical of French violins of this time. This lovely violin is in excellent condition, and has a very mature and sophisticated tone quality that is complex and full of color.
